What is an anxiety attack? Well in all truth, anxiety attacks affect almost 20% of American population today. This type of nervous disorder has become one of the most sought after fields in the medical industry. But few people really know what anxiety attacks are, and how do they came to be. Actually anxiety attacks are the same as panic attacks. It is described as a sudden feeling of intends fear and apprehension about a situation. The funny thing is, most people suffering from this disorder are just falsely predicting things and expecting unrealistic outcomes. But the root of this is fear. Unfortunately for some, they have even more worse conditions and are even to the extreme. Accompanying anxiety attacks are uncomfortable feelings of dizziness, faster heartbeat, excessive sweating, and shortness of breathe. A typical anxiety attack can last for about 15 seconds to 1 minute. However, there are people who are known to have experienced panic attacks for more than just minutes, lasting for hours until the attack slowly diminishes.
Those who suffer panic attacks often report of feeling a little bit crazy about the situation they are in. Some wild and somewhat exaggerated effects include having tunnel visions, due to the flow of the blood unto the vital parts of the body in preparation for a flight and fight response. Anxiety attacks or panic attacks are actually our body’s primary response to our sympathetic nervous system, which primes our body for action and prepares us for flight and fight response. The parasympathetic nervous system restores our system to its normal state.
Now these two systems will come into play every time the patient is in the state of an anxiety attack. This explains why then person suffering from this disorder feels confused and experiences different sensations in the body.
