Panic Anxiety Attack

Terrence Adams felt a different thrill tonight as he clears his throat at the back of the stage. Tonight, he will be singing in front of thousands of people for his debut single that made its way to the American hit charts. Although he has been performing extensively before, the jeer of the crowds and the thundering applause he heard, as the famous pop band The WonderBoys plays before him, seemed to be too overwhelming for the fresh singer.

In a few minutes from now, it will be his time to shine. But it really feels strange for him. “I have never felt this strange before” he said. He could hear his heart pounding hard, and felt his sweat was dripping all over his face up to his body. He felt cold and a bit dizzy. He thought he would take a long rest after tonight’s show. He just can’t make a mistake tonight. “You just sing Terrence, you can do it”, He whispered to himself as if to ease up the uncomfortable feeling. He will need all the motivation he can give to himself. The show is far too important for him since it will launch his career into the music industry, and yes, maybe in Hollywood.

As the band before him was singing the last few remaining lines from their song, Terrence thought of the people in front of him in the stage, and the many viewers in the television watching tonight, and as he thought more, he felt even more dizzier and dizzier. Then a sharp feeling overcame him, and all the “what if’s” came into his mind. What if I sang off key? What if I made a mistake? What if here and what if there, and before he knew it, his name was already called upon by the emcee for the night – “Ladies and Gentlemen, Please welcome… Terrence Adams!!”

The deafening crowd filled the stadium and Terrence staggered a little bit as he walked center stage. The music of his song starts playing in the background to signal the cue and the audience applauds even more loudly filling the air. As Terrence grabs the microphone, he takes his hanky from his tuxedo to wipe off the flooding sweat from his face. His hands started to tremble and his knees wobbled uncontrollably. Then disaster strikes, as he breathes in to prepare for the first note, he had no more air to grasp. In that moment, Terrence drops unconscious to the floor. The ambulance came and he was rushed to the hospital. The diagnosis – he suffered a panic anxiety attack.

What a waste for this young man. He wasn’t able to control himself, or at least found a way to conquer his fear. As you can see, Terrence Adams had just suffered a panic anxiety attack. He is just one among millions of people who are suffering from this disorder. If Terrence only knew how to handle his own anxieties and fears, the incident would not have happened. Now, medical and health professionals around the world are on their way to fully understanding fully what a panic anxiety attack really is.
