Causes of Anxiety Attacks
Thousands of brilliant minds in the medical field are coming up with their own theories about anxiety attack and its causes. Some experts say that the causes of anxiety attacks can be found in a slight chemical imbalance in the body. Now I know this may seem too deep to understand, but I believe that you will know soon. Apart from the chemical imbalance theory, some people, especially psychologists, are saying that one of the main causes of anxiety attacks stem up from repressed emotions in the subconscious mind. While these two theories or shall we say, assumptions are most of the time, I simply believe that the causes of anxiety attacks point out to one thing – that is exhaustion. This could be physical exhaustion, mental, and emotional exhaustion.
The reason probably why most experts think of repressed emotions as the main cause of anxiety attacks is because of the fact that we really need to express ourselves. Yes we really need to express anger, joy, and love, but there is more than meets the eye. Repressed emotions can add up to anxiety attacks but they are not the root cause. So if you have not expressed your emotions lately, maybe it is time to let it go. Share your thoughts with friends. Talks to your spouse for more encouragement, and yes utilize your outlets and talents to express yourself more. Playing music for example is a good form of expressing one’s self.
They also say that chemical imbalance is the reason for most anxiety attacks. Many doctors and medical researchers have used the term to explain the need for medicines to treat anxiety attacks. But this assumption further makes us believe that anxiety is just a medical problem and that medications are the only way out. That is why medicines like Prozac, Paxil, and Valium are at the rise. But unfortunately, chemical imbalance as the major cause for anxiety attacks is not at all proven and tested. It will still need more study and research. The human brain appears to be more complex than we expect. There is more to know and learn for us out there.
